Nominations: CLOSED Electronic filing ended on 8 September 2026 at 12:00 and the nomination period ended on 9 September 2026. The election campaign runs from 10 to 22 September 2026.

Official national post-closing figures

The national post-closing report records 1,850 lists and 7,288 candidacies, more than 18 candidacies per seat. This includes 1,615 local lists / 5,505 local candidacies and 235 regional lists / 1,783 regional women candidates. Regional constituencies correspond to the 12 regions and are reserved for women candidates.

28 political formations took part in nominations, including a coalition created for these elections. Two local non-party lists, grouping five candidates, were also filed. 227 sitting parliamentarians are candidates: 204 male MPs, 20 female MPs and 3 councillors.

Women’s participation

A total of 2,658 women are standing, representing 36.47% of all candidacies: 1,783 at regional level and 875 locally. 121 local lists are headed by a woman.

Election campaign: key rules

The campaign runs from 10 September to midnight on 22 September 2026. Official rules notably recall administrative neutrality, the ban on gifts or benefits intended to obtain votes or induce abstention, and the prohibition of violence, intimidation and threats. Campaign accounts must be filed within 90 days of the proclamation of results, electronically and in parallel on paper, under the review of the Court of Auditors.
