Quick answer. ONSSA sanitary approval or authorisation concerns establishments and businesses whose activity falls under applicable food-safety rules. It is not simply an online form: the required file depends on the activity and location and can involve administrative and technical review plus an inspection of the establishment.
Who is concerned?
ONSSA states that establishments and companies in the food and animal-feed sectors must, depending on their activity, obtain sanitary approval and/or authorisation. The procedure is based in particular on Law 28-07 on food safety and its implementing texts.
Where is the application submitted?
For agri-food establishments, ONSSA asks the operator to complete the relevant form and submit the application to the ONSSA inspection service for the province where the establishment is located. The file has an administrative part and a technical part. Forms and file requirements are published on the official site.
How is the application reviewed?
- identify the activity category and the approval or authorisation that applies;
- download the form and list of supporting documents for that activity;
- submit the application to the competent territorial service;
- ONSSA reviews the file and, depending on the case, carries out a sanitary inspection once the file is compliant;
- after a favourable outcome, an approval or sanitary-authorisation number is assigned.
Before submitting
Check that plans, technical information, operator identification and administrative documents are consistent with each other. A change in the activity or establishment may require an update to the file; ONSSA also regulates suspension and withdrawal conditions.

Key point: identify the exact activity category, use the corresponding ONSSA file and submit it to the territorial inspection service for the establishment's province.
